I'm seeking a sweet, strong Scottish gentleman friend who enjoys taking time to learn about a very interesting woman. I just turned 40 -- marking the second half of my life -- and I am entering it with the focus and intent I certainly didn't have when I was 20! I do not rush into romantic relationships, because my best partnerships have been based on trust, honesty, and total, true friendship. I really need a shoulder to lean on sometimes. I love classic rock, alternative, and pop music, playing guitar, exploring the woods or caves, animals (I have two cats), classic Art (particularly sculpture and 19th century Portraiture), reading, feeling protected and secure with someone who makes me LAUGH and treats me equally. I enjoy live comedy, dining out, singing, parties with friends at home, traveling to historic places (or haunted places; the paranormal has always intrigued me), and being away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I'm kind of a loner-type, and I do need my space sometimes and enjoy my independence, so I would certainly encourage that from a partner, if needed, in what is known as a healthy, 'interdependent' relationship. No games here; I'm looking for just one person to be my life partner. I was born in Atlanta. I'm 1/4 Scottish (grandfather emigrated from Inverness), and part Dutch. I've traveled to Scotland, France, and England, and I've seen 33 of the lower 48 United States. I dislike arrogance, closed-minded people, smoking, sports fanatics, people who can't hold an intellectual, mentally stimulating conversation, men who just want sex, the bar scene, smoking, habitual lateness and lying. I'd love to get some outdoor activities started up again. (Hiking, walking, riding bikes, pool, table-tennis, darts, and exercise (gym or swimming). I'm totally self-supporting, so my paycheck is my lifeline. I'd like to have some money to do what I'd like to do and have some fun, but I can't afford it right now. I'd like to skydive one day; return to Scotland, and live in old, renovated home with lots of character (and ghosts, of course!)
Ideal Man:
You'll be between the ages of 33-55, intelligent and mentally stimulating, funny, easygoing, no baggage (ex-wives, lovers, hangers-on, and I really don't want kids, but if you have girls, that's OK). Must be in control of your own life and know exactly what you want. I like slender men, short- to medium-length hair, prefer a musician, an academic, scientist, or an artist-type. I want you to be the first one I think of in the morning, the first one I can't wait to call when something good happens, the first one to be at my side when I'm sick or old, and I want to be there for you as well. I want us to weave a Secret Cocoon in which we are the only members, aside from the times when we're with friends, hanging around, laughing, just living Life. A sense of humor, an optimistic attitude, an easy smile, someone who believes in God, has an inquisitive mind and a thirst for knowledge, and a sincere interest in ME - these qualities are essential! And I give as good as I get!
